Create shortcut when dropping file

Hold Alt while dragging a file to create a shortcut to the original file at the drop location.

Alt + mouse drag a file

When to use it

When you want to create a shortcut to a file in another folder without copying or moving the original.

Pro tip

Release the mouse button before releasing Alt to ensure the shortcut is created.
